Faintness (syncope)
Description
This training covers the essential steps to take when someone faints in the workplace. You will learn how to assess the situation, check for responsiveness and breathing, and apply the correct recovery position. By the end, you will be confident in providing effective first aid for syncope.
After this course you can
- Recognize the signs of fainting (syncope) in a colleague
- Assess whether the situation is safe before approaching the victim
- Check consciousness and breathing using the correct technique
- Apply the appropriate recovery position (chin lift and stable side position)
- Decide when and how to call emergency services
- Provide correct first aid until professional help arrives
