Description
This course teaches healthcare workers how to prevent needle injuries during daily care tasks. Through realistic scenarios and interactive exercises, learners will recognize unsafe practices, apply correct sharps disposal procedures, and understand what to do if a needle injury occurs.
After this course you can
- Identify common unsafe practices that can lead to needle or sharps injuries.
- Explain how to safely handle, remove, and dispose of needles and lancets using the correct sharps container procedures.
- Recognize the correct placement and maximum fill level of a sharps container before carrying out a procedure.
- Demonstrate the correct steps for preparing and using an insulin or lancet pen safely.
- Describe the immediate follow-up procedure after a needlestick injury, including reporting and medical follow-up.
